Twenty years ago today, the most commercially successful Star Trek film to date was released. Directed by series star Leonard Nimoy, this film represented a desire by all to do a lighter film, "a real caper" as Nimoy himself put it at the time. Additionally, it addressed growing ecological concerns as man moved deeper into the 20th century. Though the fourth film of the original cast, The Voyage Home is seen as the third and final act of a trilogy within what would eventually become 6 films to feature them all. Begun with 'The Wrath of Khan' and continued with Nimoy's directorial debut 'The Search for Spock', this film ended the greater genesis story-line. To commemorate this date, TrekCore is proud to present a vintage commercial advertising the film from back in 1986. Enjoy!
